Spooky’s Cafe in the Milk District

The other night went on a double-date to Spooky’s Cafe with Adam and went gaga over the eats! Photos of these eats were never posted—unbelievable, I know. So today I’m going two-birds-one-stone and test-driving the Picsin Android photo editor and collage-maker with a few yummy pics from Spooky’s. From top to bottom: Spinach and Artichoke Dip, Pork-Over-Waffles with Dipping Sauces, and Strawberry Basil Shortcake.

Seating at Spooky’s is close quarters, but the service is fantastic and the food is even better. Every dish has a nice twist or is unexpected all-together.  Before the entrees made their grand entrance, Adam and I shared a refreshing take on artichoke dip, devilled eggs, and cream stout with our friends. The pace was leisurely and the setting was cozy. Spooky’s atmosphere is conducive to the enjoyment of sharing delicious food and great conversation with friends.

By far, the star of the menu is the pulled pork-over-waffles. I’m almost sure the pork-over-waffles text glowed invitingly the moment Adam set his eyes on menu. Oh and the fact that three or four other people were served pork over waffles while we waited to be seated didn’t hurt either. The super-cheesy tortellini garnished with fresh basil called my name — every bite melt-in-my-mouth delicious. They were then followed by a first flavor combination for me; strawberry shortcake over vanilla bean ice cream topped with pears and sweet basil. Spooky’s menu changes often with fresh and creative ideas, but the next time you visit do yourself a favor and order the strawberry shortcake. I know I’ll have a hard time trying another dessert over the shortcake.

Don’t be afriad to ask your server about anything on the menu; food, spirit, or otherwise. In the mood for a certain flavor or a surprise? The servers will steer your in the right direction. I can’t wait to head back to Spooky’s Black Cat Cafe to check out the surprises on their latest menu!
